Susan Martinelli Shea, Dancing with the Students

“What is most important to me is making a difference where I am.”

Susan Martinelli Shea

Susan Martinelli Shea, the president and founder of Dancing with the Students, a 501(c)(3) Private Operating Foundation which teaches ballroom dancing, manners, and respect to inner-city students, shared the story behind her title with us on October 9, 2022.

Susan started with one school in Philadelphia in September 2005, and has added schools every year. Her former career as a special education teacher spanned fifteen years and five states. Sue is a proud graduate of Boston College and holds a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University.

Sue’s life from the start has been a lesson in the power of helping others. She saw it as a little girl by example from her parents. She experienced it for years as a teacher guiding children with special needs and she lives it today running a national nonprofit that teaches ballroom dance to underserved boys and girls. It literally changes the course of their life. Listen in to learn of the single event that changed the course of her own life.
