Full Biography

Maria Black is President of Small Business Solutions and Human Resources Outsourcing, where she leads a team focused on helping small business owners manage their most important asset, their people. Her team strives to meet the wide-ranging needs of small business owners who constantly seek to hire, retain and manage their talent.  Organizations under her leadership include ADP’s Small Business Services, Retirement Services, Insurance Services, ADP Workforce Now® Comprehensive Services, ADP Resource®, and ADP TotalSource® — the largest Professional Employer Organization (PEO) in the United States with 471,000 worksite employees.  

Maria joined ADP in 1996 as a sales associate in Small Business Services, where she learned the business from the ground up by selling payroll door-to-door.  She went on to assume leadership roles in sales, client services and operations, and served as the General Manager for ADP United Kingdom. In this role, she led a team that successfully expanded ADP’s human capital management offerings throughout the United Kingdom.

Maria is a member of the Global 50, a peer forum for global executives within the World 50 Community that focuses on gaining insights into challenges and opportunities connected with business leadership, growth, operations and governance.  Maria also has played a key role in developing people and fostering leadership opportunities. She serves as executive sponsor for ADP Women in Leadership (WIL), and is a member of the National Association of Professional Employer Organizations® and Employer Services Assurance Corporation®.  In addition, she is a member of FORTUNE® magazine’s “Most Powerful Women” community and a contributor to Arianna Huffington’s publication, Thrive Global.

Maria has volunteered and championed local corporate social responsibility efforts with a number of charities throughout her tenure at ADP. She has a particular passion for history and charities that honor the sacrifices of war veterans and ensure that their legacies are recorded and retold to future generations. As such, she served as executive sponsor of the ADP Veteran Empowerment project.

A native of Sweden, Maria holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and international affairs from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
