Janeen Gelbart, Indiggo

“One of the things that has contributed to my confidence throughout my professional career has been the knowledge and example my father showed me as a Holocaust Survivor.”

Janeen Gelbart

Janeen Gelbart, CEO and co-founder of Indiggo, shared the story behind her title with us on Saturday, May 22nd and Sunday, May 23rd, 2021.

Janeen has been dedicated to creating Return On Leadership® for over 15 years. She spearheaded Indiggo’s transformation from a premier boutique consultancy to a highly innovative tech company that continues to break through static ways of working and unquestioned limiting assumptions.

Never satisfied with the status quo, Janeen relentlessly engages herself and others in being the best they can.

With an educational background in psychology from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa, she possesses unique insights into human motivation and situational assessment. She goes to the core of what drives our choices and behavior and focuses on creating simple, powerful, actionable solutions.

She is grounded by authenticity, clarity, decisiveness, and the need for action over theory. As someone who loves throwing herself into new challenges, she is fresh and fearless. Those who know her have come to expect her candor, sincerity, insight and her belief in the power of simplicity and possibility.

Janeen was born in South Africa, raised in Europe, and is now based in Washington DC. As a lifelong entrepreneur, she has launched three successful companies and impacted thousands of leaders. She founded Safic, a leading pan-European importer and distributor of technology products and following several years of spearheading Safic’s triple digit growth, sold the business and relocated to the US. She then created a wholesale distribution company prior to focusing her career on driving leaders and their organizations to excellence.

Janeen brings relentless passion to realizing the purpose and vision of Indiggo. She wakes up every morning inspired by the groundbreaking difference the extraordinary team at Indiggo is creating for leaders.

Janeen shared with me that as a child she was actually shy, and typically the observer of others.  We talked about how those traits are actually quite positive for leaders who develop the ability to read people, develop insights and come up with the simplest solutions to problems. As the mother of two daughters, she hopes their journey’s lead them away from being placed in boxes, and toward the life they were truly meant to live.
