The constant pressure to optimize ourselves and our performance steals our joy. But when we are present, the world is full of wonder.Alison Escalante, MD
Alison Escalante MD, Pediatrician, TEDx Speaker, and Forbes Contributor, shared the story behind her title with us on Sunday, December 6, 2020.
Alison’s undergraduate degree was in History from Princeton University, where she studied Ideological and Cultural History. She obtained her M.D. from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School at Rutgers University. Her pediatric residency training was at Duke University and the University of Chicago. She is a former Clinical Instructor in Pediatrics at Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine.
She lives in Illinois with her husband, two rambunctious sons, and a variety of hamsters.
Rarely does one family experience tragedy twice, but in Alison’s case, that’s exactly what happened. Both her mother and brother on two separate occasions were involved in accidents that led to brain damage. Alison’s experience as an 11 year old witnessing this, inspired her to go into medicine as a way to help people who are physically and mentally suffering.
