Full Biography

Jorey Friedman has 30 years of experience providing architectural design expertise – 23 of those years with SB Architects. A Principal and design leader in the firm’s Miami office, she is integral to the continued growth and success of that office. With her instinctive leadership style and intuitive design sense, she forms and maintains strong design and development teams. She plays an active role in business development and provides mentorship for junior staff.

Jorey is highly experienced in a wide variety of large-scale project types, including hospitality, resort residential communities, entertainment facilities and mixed-use developments. She leads design teams for major projects across the globe, effectively championing the design vision, and creating the open, communicative design process that results in successful projects. She creates and executes projects from concept through construction, and has the capacity to establish and nurture the relationship between client and design team.

Jorey leads the teams for many of the firm’s most high-profile projects, including the highly successful Malliouhana, An Auberge Resort in the Caribbean, and Mission Hills Haikou, a residential resort community and spa on China’s Hainan Island. Several projects under her direction are currently under construction, including the Ritz Reserve Hotel and Residences at Caroline Bay, Bermuda, and the Wyndham Grand Resort at the historic Sam Lord’s Castle site in Barbados in the Caribbean. Currently, she is leading the design teams for several new hotels and mixed-use developments in the United States and the Caribbean, including a Six Senses branded resort in the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Prior to joining SB Architects, Jorey worked as a lead designer for an architecture, development and construction company in Tokyo, Japan, focusing her talents on mixed-use retail, residential and hospitality developments. She is conversationally fluent in Japanese, a member of the Japan Karate Association and was on the ISKF US Karate team for several years.
