Jamie Mittelman, the Founder of Flame Bearers, will share the story behind her title with us on October 25, 2023.
Jamie is an entrepreneur featured in US INSIDER, Boston.com, and CEO Weekly, making sure girls from all corners of the world have athletic role models who look and sound like them. She is the Founder of Flame Bearers, the world’s first storytelling platform for women Olympians and Paralympians and tells stories via an award-winning podcast, live events, and video production.
Flame Bearers has won internationally acclaimed awards in the categories of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Public Service, and Sports and has a global reach in 48 countries. Jamie’s background is in media, having managed a $30 million portfolio for the conglomerate of Yahoo, The Huffington Post, AOL, and Verizon. Jamie founded Flame Bearers while receiving her Masters in Public Administration (MPA) from the Harvard Kennedy School, where she received the Don K Price award for her significant impact on the Harvard community. At Harvard, Jamie co-chaired the Women in Power Conference and furthered her knowledge in public-private partnerships. Prior to Harvard, Jamie received her Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business, where she was also recognized for her contributions to the Tuck community (Julia Stell Award).
She’s passionate about everything active and outdoors be it skiing, biking, running (just completed her second marathon), or kicking around a soccer ball. Happiest with good friends and family, reading a good book (huge dystopia fan) or throwing herself into new situations/places (moved to Bangladesh for her first job out of college + has applied to Survivor 3x), Jamie is always the first to challenge herself. She’s a travel junkie, Pan-Mass Challenge lifer (14 years riding), and Red Sox lover. She credits her family, friends and mentors for always having her back and showing her the way when she gets cranky.
