Gayle Martz, the founder of The SHERPA Pet Trading Company, shared the story behind her title with us on Sunday, September 19th, 2021.
Gayle single-handedly designed, manufactured, and marketed the iconic SHERPA Bag you see everywhere! This carrier, which millions have bought for their dogs, cats, and other animal companions, continues to be THE top-selling, prize-winning, globally popularly soft-sided pet carrier. Further, It is because of Gayle’s advocacy and entrepreneurship that pet travel on airlines is now possible and common. Gayle’s the author of “IT’S IN THE BAG,” which is part memoir and part business book.

From a young age Gayle was looking for ways to fix things. It makes perfect sense then that she came up with a way to allow people to travel with their pets. While she had a very dark moment in her life facing the loss of a job and her fiance all at the same time, it was her sweet dog Sherpa that not only comforted her through that phase, but spurred her idea that would turn into a multi-million dollar company. Keep on trying, she says.
